Gertrude C. Christensen, age 92, a resident of the Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, died quietly late Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at the Hamilton Home, with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, St. Luke site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Gertrude was born April 26, 1911 in Two Rivers, a daughter of the late Milford and Meta (Ammerman) Henrickson. She attended St. Luke Parochial School, and Two Rivers Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1928. After high school, Gertrude worked for a law firm in Two Rivers for a couple years before becoming employed with Hamilton Mfg. Co., where she worked as a stenographer until 1937. On Oct. 2, 1937 she was united in marriage to Nelmer L. Christensen at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death March 30, 1972. She then took time to raise her family, before returning to work in 1960 at the City Dairy in Two Rivers. In 1962, she became employed at the Lakeview Net Co., where she worked until her retirement in 1978. She was a lifetime member of the St. Luke Ladies Altar Society, and a charter member of the Two Rivers Senior Center, where she enjoyed singing with the Senior Center Chorus and the Senior Center Mello-Tones group. Gertie enjoyed shopping, but above all enjoyed the time spent with her family.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Ronald Mueller, Mishicot; one son and daughter-in-law: James L. and Connie Christensen, Las Vegas, Nev.; a son-in-law: Ken Kumbalek, Green Bay; nine grandchildren: Peter Kumbalek, Susan (Roger) Swanson, Paul (Michelle) Kumbalek, Michael (Diane) Kumbalek, Keith (Stacy) Kumbalek, Randy Mueller and special friend, Debra Rohr-Arndt, Ross (Shawn) Mueller, Michael (Mary) Christensen, and Mindy Christensen; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister: Mildred Pagels, Manitowoc; special friends: Doug and Jean Hoffman, Donna Baker, and Sara Parkos, all of Two Rivers; many nieces, nephews, and her many friends at the Two Rivers Senior Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Joan Kumbalek; one brother and sister-in-law; Dick (Charlotte) Henrickson; and a nephew: Rick Henrickson.

Friends may call at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, St. Luke site, after 9 a.m. on Friday until the time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. There will be no visitation this evening.
