And the Sacramento Daily Union, Volume 92, Number 55, 15 October 1896 shows an article about his funeral, and lists his name as Eben.

"LATE EBEN DODGE.
His Funeral Took Place Yesterday in This City.
The funeral services over the late Eben Dodge took place yesterday at the family residence, 919 F street, Mrs. Cowell of Oakland officiating. Many beautiful floral pieces were received from friends of the deceased, and appropriate hymns were sung at the house and the grave by Mru. Wilbur Smith and daughter. The pallbearers were Messrs. Ross, Holland, Lafferty, Butterfield, Jackson and Longton. O. P. Dodge of this city and Fred J. Dodge of Kansas City, Mo., are sons of the deceased. Mrs. Dodge's death occurre*d two years ago."
