"Page Pioneer" Winston Dean Bousman, 67, quietly went to be with his Lord in his sleep at 5:30 a.m. while at home on June 8, 2014 in Moses Lake, Washington, after a courageous battle with melanoma skin cancer that had spread to his brain by late April 2014, when he had a seizure which revealed that the cancer had metastasized. In early June, he had a second seizure.
Dean was born on April 4, 1947 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the son of Charles Marion Bousman and Pattie (Hearne) Bousman.
Dean ran hurdles in track and played football in high school where he was nicknamed "Crazy Legs Bousman". Dean graduated from Page High School in Page, Arizona in 1965.
Later that year, Dean enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and he served his country honorably. He graduated from Boot Camp second in his class of 66 Marine recruits in Camp Pendleton, California. Due to his bravery during the Vietnam war, he was awarded several medals, including: Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. The convoys that he drove in were often ambushed, and he was injured when his own vehicle was blown up. He received an Honorable Discharge on April 18, 1971, after serving for 4 years active duty and 2 years in the Marine Corps Reserve.

After Vietnam, Dean married Gwendolyn Marie Cornett on June 17, 1972 in First Baptist Church in Pasco, Washington. They met in church, and after worship, Dean drove Gwen home. Four hours later, they decided to get married. Gwen said that she loved and trusted him that fast because of is deep love for the Lord.
Dean and Gwen Bousman were married and serving the Lord together for 42 years and had the following five children:
i. Hannah Lee Bousman was born on 28 May 1974 in Salem, OR.
ii. Kimberlee Dawn Bousman was born on 19 Jun 1975 in Pasco, WA.
iii. Timothy Charles Bousman was born August 7, 1976 in Pasco, WA. He suffered from Downs Syndrome. He died on 13 Jan 1979 in Tacoma, WA, in his father's arms of heart failure. He was buried in City View Cemetery, Pasco, WA.
iv. Sarah Jo Bousman was born on 5 Jun 1981 in Puyallup, WA.
v. Joshua Dean Bousman was born on 12 Oct 1984 in Puyallup, WA.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Missions from Western Baptist College in Salem, Oregon in 1974. And in 1987, he earned a Master of Biblical Studies from Northwest Baptist Seminary in Tacoma, Washington.
Four years after 'walking the aisle' in Page as a teen to publicly receive Jesus as Savior and Lord and give his life over to his Lord Jesus Christ, Dean returned to Page in 1969 for only one night on his way home after USMC Service, then decided to go into the ministry. As a result, Dean worked as senior pastor for six churches including:
Burbank Baptist Church in Burbank, Washington (1976-1978)
Orting Community Baptist Church in Orting, Washington (1980-1988)
Faith Baptist Church in Auburn, Washington (1989-1999)
Tillicum Baptist Church in Lakewood, Washington (1999-2005)
Lone Rock Chapel in Seabeck, Washington (2006-2008)
Elk Creek Community Bible Church in Elk Creek, Washington (2008-2013)
Dean is survived by his wife, Gwen Bousman, daughter and son-in-law Hannah and Todd Welch all of Moses Lake, Washington, daughter and son-in-law Kimberlee and Chris Hertzer of Plano, Texas; daughter Sarah Bousman of Aurora, Colorado, son Joshua Dean Bousman of Plano, Texas; grandchildren: Sam, Emma and Owen Welch of Moses Lake, Washington, Nicholas and Lily Hertzer of Plano, Texas; mother Pattie Mae Strand of Black Canyon City, Arizona; brother Steven Delano "Steve" (Kathy) Bousman of Star Valley, Arizona, sister Rese Louise (Darvin) Moore of Mesa, Arizona, brother Marion Douglas "Doug" (Linda) Bousman of Phoenix, Arizona and sister Tena Marie Stephan of Mesa, Arizona
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Marion Bousman and son Timothy Charles Bousman.
Burial with Military Honors was in the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, Washington on June 11, 2014. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1 :00 p.m. in Orting Community Baptist Church in Orting, Wash.
Dean will be missed dearly, but we live in faith and peace that we will be reunited with him again when we see the Lord.

His worship service at Wahweap Campground during our PHS Reunion in 1989 and his memorial presentation for our classmates and Page friends like George Koury who served our country in the military were such memorable highlights. It was Dean's idea to have a Memorial Service for our Departed Classmates, and Sharon Koury Buck made his idea happen so beautifully at two of our reunions. He credited Tim Chalmers for being the one who invited him to church the day he gave his heart and life to The Lord. (They are pictured together here during those high school years.) Dean officiated at the funerals of a number of our classmates, being a Baptist pastor for so many years. He was loved and an inspiration to so many and had a beautiful family. We will miss him and look forward to seeing him again "in the air" with our Lord Jesus Yeshua or maybe among those who welcome us into our eternal home in heaven.
