He was born on May 6, 1916, in Carlock, the son of John H. and Effie Carlock Stauffer. He married Alice Dohrs on June 20, 1943, in Modesto. She survives in Normal.
Other survivors include one daughter Alice Ann (Rex) Martin, four sons, John A. (Beth) Stauffer, David M. (Marianne) Stauffer, Paul A. Stauffer, Daniel G. Stauffer,three grandchildren, Ashley and Alexis Martin and Lindsey Stauffer.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Stauffer was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. and was owner-operator of Carlock Lumber Yard. He was a member of Carlock Christian Church, where he was elder Emeritus. He was a 50 year member of Danvers Masonic Lodge 742 AF and AM.
