∼Mattie Marie (Causbie)Carroll of Kennett Mo. transitioned this life on June 22, 2014 at 89 years and 10 months. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Eva Lela(Haynes)Causbie. She is survived by her husband J.T. Carroll of Kennett Mo., one sister Bessie Mae(Causbie)Henson of Centreville Alabama. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceded in death were two brothers Roy Causbie Sr.(Kennett Mo), Hubert Causbie(Pontiac Michigan), four sisters, Nellie (Causbie)Welch, Parma Mo, Joyce(Causbie)Lape, Sikeston Mo, Willeen (Causbie)Tuggle, Imperial Mo, and Dorothy(Causbie)Nash, Holcomb Mo.
Mattie was a graduate of 339 Rural School on April 21. 1939 Bloomfield Vindicator and
attended State Teacher College at Cape Giradeau and was Principal of three schools in Dunklin County Mo., Schumach, Gregory, and Campbell before her tenure at Boeing International(McDonnell Douglas). Mattie also won the Missouri State Spelling Bee at the age of 4, spelling over 1,000 words. Later, she worked 25 years for McDonnell Douglas(Boeing Intl) in St. Louis Mo as one of Howard Hughes private secretaries and possessed government clearance from May 1962 to October 1983. I remember her talking about how Howard Hughes would make a entrance through the top of the building. Mattie also earned Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Paul Revere Chapter 395 St. Louis Missouri in 1977. Her Funeral was held at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett Mo. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetary in Malden Mo. Pallbearers were nephews Danny Tuggle, David Causbie, Roy Causbie, Jr., Keith Nash, Wayne Nash and Randall Henson . Chris Maynard of Fiendship Baptist Church officiated the funeral and where Mattie was a member.
