Barneson, Nancy Ann

Nancy Ann Barneson, age 80, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, Wisconsin.

Nancy was born November 5, 1933 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Reinhardt and Marion Bruns Stanzel. She was confirmed in 1948 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church and was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1952. On June 27, 1953 she married Donald H. Barneson at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2012. Nancy held various office jobs including secretary at First German Ev. Lutheran Church and retired from H.M.F., Inc. in 1987. Nancy was very active in bowling and golf and held various offices in these organizations and was also involved with the Lakeshore Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed volunteer work at the Visitors Center, the Manitowoc Senior Center, and Cancer, Reach to Recovery through the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Nancy was a lifetime member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church and was active with the Evening Circle and Ladies Aid of First German.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Cheryl Barneson, Manitowoc, WI; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Duane Reed, Winchester, VA; five grandchildren: Zachary Barneson, Manitowoc, WI; Tyler, Dakota, Noah, and Ford Reed, Winchester, VA; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Michael and Ronda Stanzel, Two Rivers, WI; Robert Stanzel, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Mark Stanzel, Two Rivers, WI; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Sandra and Kermit Bennett, Hertford, NC; Linda Stanzel, Manitowoc, WI; one brother-in-law: Robert A. (Donna) Barneson, South Lake Tahoe, CA; special friend: Nan Disch, Manitowoc, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Reinhardt and Marion Stanzel; husband: Donald Barneson; step mother: Della Stanzel; sister-in-law: Dorothy Aschenbach.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Christopher Hoppe with burial of the cremains to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Following the memorial services at the church there will be a luncheon for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
