GEORGE FRASCH

George J. Frasch, age 86, of 2305 Lincoln Ave., Two Rivers died Wednesday morning, Oct. 30, 2002 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, St. Luke site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William O’Brien. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

George was born Feb. 14, 1916 in Two Rivers, son of the late John and Anna Gabriel Frasch. He attended Washington High School graduating with the class of 1934. George served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 125th FA BTL, from November 1941 to August 1945. He served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters where he received the Silver Battle Star and six overseas service bars. George was involved in many battles and campaigns which included Tunisian, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Appennines, and the Po Valley.

On May 29, 1946 George married the former Edith Palzer in Sarasota, Fla. They wintered together in Inverness, Fla., for the past 20 years. George worked 40 years for Crescent Woolen Mills, retiring in 1980. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play cards with his family and friends. George was a member of St. Joe’s Athletic Association.

Survivors include his wife: Edith Frasch, Two Rivers; three daughters: Gay Thorne, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Marjory Frasch, Milwaukee; Susan Kloiber, Cambria, Wis.; five grandchildren: Sara and David McKee, Neenah; Tara and Don Humphrey, Lookout Mountain, Ga.; Gina and Kevin Cooper, Loganville, Ga.; Jana and Stacy Shoptaw, Greensboro, N.C.; Alison Kloiber, Cambria, Wis.; five great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Marie and Ted Neuenberger, Two Rivers; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Evelyn and Daniel Stangel, Two Rivers. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by one son: Gregory; one brother: Bernard Frasch; four sisters: Marcella Frasch, Alice Daul, Edna Rosman and Gertrude Lawler.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, St. Luke site, Two Rivers. The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers, is assisting the Frasch family with funeral arrangements.
