Joseph F. Barrett, 81, and a resident of 104 West 5th St., in Oswego , died Thursday at his home.
Mr. Barrett was born in Marathon, NY and was the son of the late John and Gladys (Cameron) Barrett. He had lived in Oswego since 1947.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the US Army. Mr. Barrett was a graduate of St. Michael's University in Toronto, Canada.
Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was the owner and operator of the Barrett Insurance Agency in Oswego .
Mr. Barrett was a retired senior member of the Oswego Rotary Club, a member of the Oswego K of C, and an original member of St. Luke Health Services Board of Directors. He was a former member of the parish councils of St. Mary's Church and the Hall Newman Center. He was the husband of the late Marion (Burke) Barrett, who died in 1996.
He is survived by a son Timothy (Bonnie) Barrett of Lake Waccamaw, NC; two daughters, Mary Jo (David) Batchelor of Baldwinsville and Patricia Meehan of Oswego ; two sisters, Marie "Corky" Familo of Oswego ; and Elizabeth Celmer of Williamsville; nine grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Barrett.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, and at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery .
