JOSEPH GAJDYS

Joseph A. Gajdys, 49, (photo) of 1020-24th St., Two Rivers, a 30-year employe of the Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, and one of the area’s most enthusiastic followers of sports activities, died at the noon hour Tuesday at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. H. J. Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Mr. Gajdys was born in Two Rivers Nov. 15, 1909, a son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Pauline Markiewicz Gajdys. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and Washington High School in Two Rivers. He entered the employ of the Hamilton Mfg. Co. July 30, 1928, and in later years worked in the company’s Dryer Division. A member of the Two Rivers Council No. 1957, Knights of Columbus, he was also a member of the Hamilton Mfg. Co. 30-Year Club. An enthusiast of most sports, he was particularly fond of basketball. It is recalled that when the Sheboygan Indians played in the old National Professional Basketball League, Mr. Gajdys didn’t miss attending a game in Sheboygan in two successive seasons.

Besides his wife, the former Mildred Bonk, of Two Rivers, whom he married Feb. 15, 1941, Mr. Gajdys leaves a daughter, Janice, at home; his mother of Two Rivers;
two sisters, Mrs. Lester Reis and Mrs. Milton Tess of Two Rivers, and two brothers, Vincent of Two Rivers and Stanley of West Allis.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock this Wednesday evening. The Knights of Columbus will meet in a body at the chapel to recite the Rosary at 7:15 o’clock.
