Mrs. Mary Gonia, __, widow of Frank Gonia Sr., early Jefferson Street, Two Rivers, businessman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Sievert, at 1821-22nd St., Two Rivers, Wednesday afternoon after a month’s illness. She had made her home with the daughter since the recent death of her son, Frank Gonia Jr., with whom she had long resided.
Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Klein & Stangel Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Joseph Gabryszek officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mrs. Gonia, nee Mary Skorch, was born at Manitowoc on Nov. 13?, 1871?, a daughter of the late Anton and Mary Migawa Skorch. When she was a child the family brought her to a farm on the Rangeline, Town of Two Rivers, where she resided until her marriage on Feb. 1, 1890, to Frank Gonia at Two Rivers. He died in 1939 in Two Rivers. For many years she was a member of the Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church.
Surviving Mrs. Gonia are two daughters, Mrs. Sivert and Mrs. George Werth of Two Rivers; a son, Laddie Gonia of Two Rivers; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Revolinsky, Mrs. Martha Levendusky and Mrs. Charles Mrotek of Manitowoc; two brothers, Anton Skorch of Manitowoc and Frank Skorch of Milwaukee; 14 grand-children, 33 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday.
