Frank C. Gonia, 62, of 1319?—21st St., Two Rivers, operator of Gonia’s Tavern at Jefferson and 21st Streets, Two Rivers, for nearly a quarter of a century, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Gonia complained of feeling ill late Tuesday afternoon and upon advice of the family physician went to the Two Rivers Hospital at 8 p.m. Tuesday for a cardiogram.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Klein & Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Joseph Gabryszek officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Mr. Gonia was born in Two Rivers on Nov. 19, 1893, a son of the late Frank Gonia and Mrs. Mary Skorch Gonia. From his early youth he was an employe of the Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, and upon the retirement of his father from the tavern business he took over the establishment. His father died in Two Rivers in 1939. In 1917 he married the former Marie Monroe at South Milwaukee.

Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Gonia leaves two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth LaBudda of Ontario, Calif., and Mrs. Edward Bloch of Milwaukee; two sons, Roland at home and Patrick Gonia of Two Rivers; two sisters; Mrs. Stanley Sievert and Mrs. George Werth of Two Rivers; a brother, Laddie Gonia of Two Rivers; and 14 grandchildren.

For many years Mr. Gonia was affiliated with the Two Rivers Council 1957, Knights of Columbus, and also was a member of the Two Rivers Lodge of Elks, No. 1380. Socially, he was a member of the February Club of Two Rivers, which membership will gather in a body at its quarters at 7 p.m. Tuesday to march to the funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday.
