Mrs. Gretz of Two Rivers Is 214th Road Victim
TWO RIVERS-Injured critically in a traffic accident involving three vehicles
in front of her home at 4416 Mishicot Rd. at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Mrs. Joseph
Gretz, 51, died early Tuesday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital.
Dr. T. A. Teitgen, county coroner, said Tuesday that a post mortem was to be
conducted and that a coroner's inquest into the woman's death will be scheduled.
She was the 214th state highway victim of the year.
Mrs. Gretz was injured when a car driven by her husband, attempting to turn into
the driveway of the home, cut in front of a car driven in the opposite direction
by Karl J. Kaufman, 21, Mishicot, who was hospitalized. Another automobile
involved in the mishap was driven by Cynthia Bayless, Rt. 2, Two Rivers. Four
others received treatment for minor injuries.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gretz will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Klein & Stangel
Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church,
Two Rivers, the Rev. John K. Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross
Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mrs. Gretz, nee Elsie Klein, was born April 24, 1909 at Two Rivers, daughter of
the late Anton and Mary Robinson Klein. She was married at St. Luke church, Two
Rivers, Feb. 24, 1925 to Joseph Gretz. For a number of years the family resided
on a farm in the Town of Mishicot. Last month the Gretzes moved to Two Rivers.
Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Elroy LaChappelle of Two Rivers;
four sons, Herbert of Manitowoc, Bernard of the Town of Gibson, Orville of Two
Rivers and Hilary at home; a sister, Mrs. Albert Tetzlaff of Two River; four
brothers, John of Manitowoc, Nicholas and Harry of Two Rivers and Arthur of
Memorial Drive, Two Rivers and 12 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday where the Rosary
will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday.
