She was born May 25, 1925, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Washington Milton and Mary Hersman Willis. Irene had previously worked for the Perfect Patio Inc. in Florida. She was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing, crafts, canning and gardening.
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Susie and Gary W. Province of Parkersburg and Betty Jo ?Bet? and Roger Woodyard of Davisville; her partner, Richard Caplinger of Elizabeth; one brother, Daniel M. Willis of Waverly; two sisters, Lieuella Rake of Parkersburg and Josie Janey and her husband, Ed, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil James Tinney; one son, Virgil J. Tinney Jr.; one brother, Raymond Willis; and one sister, Mary Cross.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Towner officiating. Interment will follow at the Harper Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
