Ypsilanti, MI
Age 90, passed away unexpectedly at home Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was born July 4, 1923 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Julian and Sarah (LaMar) Alton. He was a decorated veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. On January 24, 1949, he married Olivia Shepherd and she survives. Frank was employed by Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti plant for many years, retiring in 2002. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #282. In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, survivors include: four children, Michael Alton of Ypsilanti, Gary (Shelley) Alton of Ann Arbor, Vivian Alton and Ted Alton, both of Ypsilanti; five granddaughters, Renee, Allison, Sarah, Nichole and Noelle; four great granddaughters, Emily, Shayla, Brianna and Olivia; two great grandsons, Andrew and CJ; one sister, Anita Bostrom; four brothers, Bob, Jack, Jim (Sharon) and Terry (Frieda); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elwood and Kenny and one sister, Evelyn. The funeral service will be 1:30 pm Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Stark Funeral Service with Rev. Don Viers of Community Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Contributions in Frank's memory may be made to Calvary Christian Academy. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 12 noon Saturday until time of service.
