Leona E. Moersch, age 89, of 202 N. Dillingham St. in Glenbeulah, passed away Monday morning, October 9, 2006, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where she had been taken early that morning.
She was born December 10, 1916 in Plain WI, a daughter of the late Herbert and Emma Nachreiner Schreiner. She attended St. Lukes Catholic School in Plain.
On December 2, 1939 she married Lawrence Moersch in Elkador Iowa. Her husband worked for the phone co. and they lived in numerous locations including Mineral Point, Chilton, Kiel, Plymouth and Schofield. In retirement they moved to Glenbeulah in 1985.
Her husband preceded her in death July 28, 2001.
Leona kept herself busy with family and making new friends where ever she lived. She enjoyed collecting various things including animated toys and animals.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Schaaf of Dodgeville and Karen (Lewis"Bud") Schmidt of Kewaskum, six grandchildren, Jacqueline Schaaf, Christine (John) Harris, Kathleen (Troy) Holzmann, Gary (Cindy) Lieffring, Tim (Theresa) Lieffring, Dan (Lisa) Lieffring, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She is also survived by six sisters, Judy Olson of ElRoy WI, Loretta Becker of Spring Green WI, Madeline Wiesen of Mineral Point WI, Marian Collins of Dodgeville, Maxine Nelson of Olympia WA and Marcia (Dick) Lindgren DodgevilleWI, one brother in-law Wade Kleinman of Ponca City OK, four sisters in-law, Dorothy Schreiner, of Baraboo, Mary Schreiner of Spring Green, Teda Schreiner of Fort Atkinson and Lorraine Gosse of Marytown.
She was preceded in death by three sisters Edna Kleinman, Laura Connley and Dorothy Schreiner, three brothers Florian (Bub) Schreiner, Julius (Satch) Schreiner and Donald Schreiner, her son in-law William (Cactus) Schaaf, one great grandson Domenic Robinson.
Funeral services will be held Monday October 16, 2:00 pm at the Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Dennis Vanbeek, Pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery Elkhart Lake. Friends may call at the Wittkopp Funeral Home from 12:00 noon on Monday until the time of service.
