Mary Harkness of New London Connecticut, b 1870 to John and Judith (Herrick) Harkness is a different person. I have verified that she died unmarried in New London on 22 Sep 1864, living with her niece on property inherited from her father. Mary Brownlee birth and death years are different from this Mary Harkness.

Note 1: The 7's in "Aged 57 Years" and "17 June 1832" appears similar to a 2 until you compare to the 2 in "1832" on this stone and also to other gravestones of the time period, in which the 7's have a flair at the bottom, which can sometimes be mistaken for a 2, but the 2's are all very distinctly a 2. Thus Mary was born between 18 June 1774 and 17 June 1775.
Note 2: The birthdate of January 28, 1780 sometimes given for Mary Brownlee is for a Mary Harkness born in Preston, New London County, Conn. However, probate records show that this Mary Harkness died in Preston under her maiden name, having never married. Mary Brownlee's name has alternately been given as Simms or Harkness, but there seems to be no documentation for either.
