Alice B. Nelson age 88, of 3512 MacArthur Drive, Manitowoc died Friday, November 16, 2012, at Care Partners Manitowoc.
Alice was born December 2, 1923, in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late William & Alma (Krueger) Carstens. She grew up and was educated in the Town of Newton, and attended St. John's Lutheran School in Newtonburg. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1941. She married Norbert Nelson on September 4, 1948, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Alice worked at the Invincible Metal Co. for 31 years and retired in 1986. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and spent many winters in Arizona.
Survivors include her husband, Norbert W. Nelson, Manitowoc; one daughter: Barbara Nelson Nasto, Green Bay, and special friend, Randy Haupt, Manitowoc; one daughter-in-law: Carol Nelson, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Abby (Corey) Janssen, West Bend, and their children, Ian, Meredith, Georgia Alice, and Wade Janssen, West Bend; Barry Nelson, Spring Lake, NC.; Desiree Nasto, Green Bay; Zachary Nasto, Green Bay; one sister and brother-in-law: Virginia (Helmer) Hanson, Green Bay; sister-in-law: Nadine Webster, Appleton. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: William & Alma Carstens; one son: Dennis Nelson; one brother, Leonard Carstens.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20 2012, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso will officiate. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at church.
