Robert Stotsin "Bob" Clay Sr
passed away at his home in Winchester, Kentucky Tuesday, June 24 at the age of 83. Bob was born July 15, 1930 to the late Marvin S. Clay and Glenna Bailey Clay. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, the late Betty Vanhoose Clay, his son Robert Stotsin Clay, Jr, and two sisters, Chloe Clay Sturgill, and Karen Clay Sanders. Bob is survived by five children, Dana Marie Clay, Dr. Kendall Ann Clay, Anthony "Tony" Clay (Jenny Dawson), Leslie "Liz" Clay Dixon (Dodd), and Julie Clay Carlisle (Lee). Other survivors include a brother, James C. Clay (Betsey) of Lexington, Kentucky. Bob is the grandfather of eight, Amber Clay Smith (Jas), Darik Dixon, Ethan Dixon (Julia Bush Dixon), Clay Dixon, John Dixon, Caroline Carlisle, Elliott Stotsin Carlisle, and Katie Jane Clay, and two great-grandchildren, Lennon Smith, and Ryland Smith. Bob was born in Pikeville, Kentucky and was raised in Morehead. In his youth Bob was a life scout with the Boys Scouts of America. During his high school years Bob was a member of the 1946 Breckenridge Training Academy KHSAA State Championship basketball team. Bob was a graduate of Breckenridge Training Academy class of 1948. Bob attended the College of William & Mary.

Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War in Japan & Korea. After his military service Bob was an employee of C & O Railroad. Bob then was employed at East Kentucky Power where he was supervisor of communications before retiring in 1992. Bob was an immersed Believer, baptized at First Baptist Church in Worthington, Kentucky. After relocating to Winchester in 1976 Bob was a member of Central Baptist Church and Christview Christian Church. Bob was a member of the Breckinridge Society. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Winchester, by the Rev. Forrest Hahn. Visitation will be Friday, June 27 from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be at the Winchester Cemetery.
