In 1926, Bernie moved here attending Elementary school and later The Gilbert School. After his father's passing in 1936, he took care of the family farm where he lived with his wife, Minna. Together they purchased the farm in 1953 and continued to run it until they stopped dairy farming in 1963. Bernie then worked with his nephew, John Passini building houses, was the caretaker for Dudley Vail, and was employed by Associated Construction. His final position was with Kartene/McCormick from 1967 until retirement in 1984. At that time, Bernie and Minna sold the farm to their daughter, Patricia where he resided until his passing.
In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves his children, Margaret Veronesi of Winsted, Sally (Fred) Wabrek of Winsted, Patricia Passini-Wheeler of Winsted, Steven(Nancy) Passini of Texas and Mary Moore of Colebrook; grandchildren, Stephen Veronesi, Cynthia Boyle, Tammy Passini, Fred Wabrek, Jr., Mike Passini, Heather Veronesi, Tiffany Wynn, Marcus Moore and Zachary Wheeler; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
