Joseph M. Jacobsen, age 88, of 1119 Harbor St., Two Rivers, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2004 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers. The Rev. William G. O'Brien will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

Joe was born Nov. 26, 1915 in Two Rivers, son of the late Lars and Elizabeth (Wierzak) Jacobsen and was educated in Two Rivers. On July 3, 1937, he was married to Adeline Waier in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1994. Joe was retired from Mirro Aluminum Co. where he worked for many years in the rolling mill. He was an avid bowler, known as "Joltin' Joe" in the city of Two Rivers, rolling five 300 games in his illustrious career, the first coming in Dec. 23, 1945 at the Community House Lanes. His fifth and most memorable 300 game was rolled in 1952 at the Community House, in the Tuesday Elks League. It was the first "sanctioned" perfect game in the history of the Two Rivers Bowling Association. Joe also had 25 national honor counts to his credit; has been a member of many league championship teams throughout the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He bowled in six national tournaments, 20 state tournaments and more than 50 city tournaments. Joltin' Joe was inducted into the Two Rivers Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Joe was also an avid horseshoe player, enjoyed fishing and his yard work.

He is survived by special friends: Irene Brezoni, Manitowoc; and Roger and Maureen Knutson, Two Rivers; one cousin: Genevieve LeClair, Two Rivers; other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, after 9 a.m. on Monday until the time of service at 10 a.m.
