Civil War veteran and hero. Served in Co. E 117th. New York Infantry from 1862 to 1865.

He braved shot and shell to do so, the staff of the guidon was broken by rifle and shell fire and the guidon pierced, but he miraculously remained unwounded.
He was promoted to 2nd. Lt. for his bravery at the battle.
Later in life he became a well known oil man working in the Ohio, Pennsylvania and finally, the Indiana oil fields.
Indiana death certificate shows he died of 'chronic disease of liver, kidneys and stomach', of many years duration.
Various newspaper reports state his place of burial to have been Corry, Pennsylvania, and Rome, N.Y.
The death certificate clearly states Center Ridge Cemetery.
