John E. "Ed" Callahan, 80, of Lancaster, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, in Fairfield Medical Center. He was a retired service manager for Jack Helm Ford and attended the Faith Memorial Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 11 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife Merle "Patty" Ankrom Callahan; sons, Mark (Cathy) of Somerset, Bryan (Judy) of Lancaster and Steve; daughter, Sharon; and nine grandchildren, Andrea Daley, Amy Callahan, Leslie Solomon, Clint Callahan, Misty Beekman, Beth Callahan, Allison Seibel, Bill Seibel and Jessica Seibel; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Floyd of Heath; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Don Callahan; sister, Faye Coey; brothers, Raymond Jenkins and Richard Jenkins; parents, George E. and Mary Callahan; and stepfather, Carl Jenkins.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Pastor Melvin Truex officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery where the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the OSU Parkinson's Disease Center,1581 Dodd Drive, Columbus, OH 43210 in Ed's memory.
