Of West Frankfort, formerly of Chicago's Clearing community, passed away Jan. 30 at her daughter's home. Mrs. Hill was born Nov. 13, 1906 in West City, IL to the Rev. John Jacob and Minnie Sanders. She married James I. Hill on Feb. 4, 1928. They were married for 54 years at the time of his death. She worked for the Cracker Jack Company in Bedford Park and retired in 1969. Mrs. Hill was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in West Frankfort, the Jurisdictional Rebekah Lodge No. 1, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Zeigler Chapter No. 841. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, fishing and gardening, but her first priority was always her family. She was the fond mother of Betty (the late Jewell) McClerren of West Frankfort, Barbara (James) Gehring of Chicago's Clearing community, and John (Sandra) Hill Sr. of Lafayette, LA. She was the devoted grandmother of Julie (Terry) Carpenter, Denny (Debbie) McClerren, Connie (Dale) Melvin, Tammy (Danny) Parkhill, Nancy (Joe) Navrkal, Craig Gehring, Stephanie (Lance) Wilkening, Jeff Gehring, Dr. John (Kelly) Hill Jr. and Dr. Graham Hill; 13 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was the beloved sister of Ralph Sanders, and the late Frank Sanders, Oswald Sanders, William Jacob Sanders, Bobby Sanders, Nellie Sanders and Mary Ellen Palmer, four half brothers and three half sisters. She was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
