Funeral Services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids for Vernie M. Kranz, age 95, who passed away Monday at Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. Rev. Harvey Ehlers will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.


Vernie was born June 10, 1919 in Ellsworth Township to Oscar & Della (Beto) Taylor.

She married Edgar Kranz on Oct. 12, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dixville. Vernie was a homemaker and has lived in the Sauk Rapids/Sartell area since 1950. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Ladies Aid, Sewing Guild, and Golden Agers. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting, and fishing. Vernie also enjoyed singing and playing her guitar and mandolin.

Survivors include her children, Paulette (Tim) Harden of Rice, Edgar (Kathy) of Richmond, VA, Marlene Becker of St. Cloud, Douglas of Sauk Rapids, and Bonnie Fortune of Web City, MO; 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Vernie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar on July 16, 2002; daughter, Barbara; brothers, Ernest, Burt, and George; and sisters, Hazel Harren, Alice Taylor, and Grace Hokanson.
