"Mrs. F. L. Nisbet Dead.
It becomes our sad duty to chronicle this week the death of one of the noblest women that ever lived in Russell county. On last Saturday morning at about the hour of 9:00 o'clock, the spirit of Mrs. F. L. Nisbet winged its flight to its eternal home.
Mrs. Nisbet had been ill but for a short time, and her death came as a shock to a large circle of friends. She was widely known as a lady of culture and many Christian graces. She took part in every movement in the community where she lived that had for its object the uplifting of mankind or the advancement of the cause of religion. No demand made upon her in the interest of the church or the promotion of its mission, ever went unanswered.
She was the wife of one our best and most substantial citizens, Hon. F. L. Nisbet, of Oswichee. To them were born six children, Mason, Frank, Wilson, Ely, William and Mary Annie, all of whom are living.
In the death of Mrs. Nisbet the Oswichee community, and indeed the entire county has suffered an irrepa[ra]ble loss. Not often do we find ladies of such modest and retiring disposition who are willing to take upon themselves so great and grave burdens and responsibilities for the sake of aiding others. She never shirked a duty, never dodged a responsibility, and she died with the plaudits and benedictions of friends and neighbors resting upon her.
To her grief stricken husband we return our tenderest sympathies and to the heart-broken children we offer our sincere consolation, and our prayer is that the steadfast faith which sustained the mother in her hour of sore suffering may likewise sustain and comfort them in the dark hour of their bereavement.
The deceased lady was buried Sunday evening in the Oswichee cemetery, Rev. C. W. Gavin conducting the services. A large concourse of friends witnessed the last sad rites."

"IN MEMORIAM
Tribute from a Friend to the Late Mrs. Elizabeth L. Nisbet.
In the sad death of that good woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Lane Nisbet, the community has lost one of its noblest representatives, a large social circle a most honoured [sic] link, the poor and distressed a loving, undying friend. But alas! the anguish in that bereaved home! To lift the vale [sic] therefrom were almost tii sacred a thing. Nearly thirty years of perfect happiness in married life had cemented a love the parallel of which is seldom seen.
Such a devotion in these days of domestic strife was as beautiful as it is rare. Tender courtesies and delicate mutual attention were daily and hourly combined with all the fervour [sic] of a union that might have counted only as many days as there were years.
Modest, retiring, courteous, with a heart overflowing with charity were her marked characteristics and only those who knew her best fully appreciated her worth.
Of her it may indeed be said –
'None knew her but to love her.
None named her but to praise.'
Her life, marked by so much evenness of disposition, such unvarying kindness of heart and a sympathetic tenderness always expressing itself in charity towards others, was closed by a death so calm and peaceful, as she, in perfect keeping therewith, and she who had so often and so lovingly administered to the wants and sufferings of others, found at last many loving ones to administer to her in their turn, and to shed the tear of sorrow over her loved form when all that earthly aid could accomplish had been done.
