Emery "Homer" Needom Hale, 81, of Pima, was born August 26, 1932 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Sherman and Janie Hale. He obtained his education in Oktaha, Oklahoma.

He was the Golden Gloves Champion in 1946. In 1949 while going to the movies at the Pima Theater he met Evia Boydsten. They were later married in Lordsburg, NM on June 24, 1950 and in January of 1966 they were sealed in the Mesa, AZ Temple for time and all eternity. Emery and Evia were blessed with 7 children.

Emery worked for Rodney Alder and then Ray Luster on the farm, he also helped Ray and Nayda Luster at Caldwell Funeral Chapel. He then went on to work at Pima Schools in 1970 where he worked for 26 years, retiring in 1996. Emery enjoyed attending all sporting events at Pima High School.

Emery and Evia celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He entered into rest June 29, 2014 surrounded by his loving wife and all of his children and many of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Evia, 7 children; Karen Hale, Sharon (Tommy) Whitmire, Sandra (Bruce) Klajda, Emery Hale, Sheila Sawyer, Lisa (Vince) Kieffer, Karole (Butch) Ward, 2 brothers Ernest (Mable) Hale, and Chester (Mary) Hale of Oklahoma, as well as 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Emery was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters, and 4 brothers.

A viewing for Emery will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Pima LDS Stake Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. with Funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery.
