WORCESTER - Mildred M. (Laasko) Allard, 73, of 386 Chandler St., formerly of Pepperell and Townsend, a retired analyst supervisor, died Friday in Hospice of Central Massachusetts.

Her husband, Robert J. Allard, died in 1989. She leaves a daughter, Nancy M. Allard of Worcester; a son, Robert J. Allard Jr. of Worcester; a sister, Bertha Wheeler of Lunenburg; two nieces; and a nephew. She was born in Townsend, daughter of Charles and Hilja (Viinikkala) Laakso, and moved to Pepperell in 1987. She graduated from Spaulding Memorial School, Townsend, in 1938.

Mrs. Allard began working at home in 1955 stuffing mailers of New England Business Service (NEBS) in Townsend. She started working full time at NEBS in 1958, rising to become the librarian and listing department supervisor until 1981 when she became special listing consultant. After her retirement in 1989, she volunteered at Lawrence Library, Pepperell, and at the central branch of the Worcester Public Library. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Townsend, St. Joseph's Church, Pepperell, and attended Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed traveling.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School St., Townsend. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. A calling hour is 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend. Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence Public Library, 15 Main St., Pepperell, MA 01463.
