0ne of the substantial and prosperous farmers of St. Josephtownship is Henry F. Buesching, who has been devoted to the development of one of the attractive farms in the community in thepast years. He is of German birth and parentage, born inGermany on 0ctober 4,1857, son of Karl and Sophia Buesching, wholived and died in their native land. They had five childrenMary, Karl, Henry F. , Sophia and Minnie. Henry Buesching had hiseducation in his native community and came to America in l88l,locating first in Fort Wayne; where he found work on a farm inthat vicinity. He later secured employment in the Bass Foundry andMachine Shop, was there employed in various capacities until l882when he located in St. Joseph township, purchasing 50 acres of farmland. This acreage he has since increased by the purchase ofanother 50 acre tract, and his farm of 100 acres is partiallyimproved and on the way to further development. Industry andambition are salient qualities of his nature and success isbound to be his portion. Indeed, he is already classed with thesuccessful men of the community; and rightly so, in view of hisaccomplishments from the humble beginnings that were his.Mr . Buesching was married, in June l882; to Mary Blume, daughterof Henry and Minnie Blume, early settlers in Allen county andhighly esteemed among its citizenry. Seven children have beenborn to the Bueschings -- Addie, Emma, Mary, Fred, Henry, Herman,and William. Mary died in July l9l4, and the wife and motherpassed away on May 5,l907. The family are Lutherans and membersof that church, and take an active part in its activities, as welIas in the social affairs of the community. Mr . Buseching isindependent in politics and an excellent citizen without being active in the politics of his community.
