Lucy was always such a sad little dog. She came to us when she was about seven years old from an abusive situation and spent her first few months learning to trust us. She would hide in her crate, go to the ground when we tried to pet her, and wouldn't play with any of the toys we bought her.

Within a few months she learned she was part of the family, she enjoyed sitting with us at night and loved pillows - lot's and lot's of pillows. She really loved going for car rides and enjoyed hiking the parks and Blue Ridge. We just loved her and so did our cats . The cats loved sleeping with Lucy, playing with her ears, and touching noses. Lucy took it all in good humor.

Lucy was a mix of beagle, German shepherd, and several unknown varieties of dogs - we could only guess.

Last year we noticed she wasn't keeping us with us and she was diagnosed with Canine degenerative myelopathy and it was obvious that she was losing the ability to walk. During the last few months she lost all ability to walk, but she still loved being part of the family and being carried outside on a sunny day.

We will miss our little sad girl, she really was a wonderful little soul with eyes that would melt your heart. She followed me everywhere and responded to any sound I made. I'll really miss her being my shadow.

Rest in Peace Lucy Goosey.
