James "Holly" Black
EASLEY — Mr. James Holland "Holly" Black, 83, husband of the late Dorothy Miller "Dot" Black, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Burnsville, NC, a son of the late William Roy and Carrie Kate King Black, Mr. Black retired from Greenwood Mills and was a security guard with Clemson University for over forty years. He was a member of Lenhardt Christian Fellowship and a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
Holly was an avid Clemson and sports fan, and was an umpire for more than forty-five years.
Surviving are a son Lennie Black of Easley; a sister, Bernice Stephens (Don) of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Paula B. Smith (Jimmy), Jamie B. Watson (Mike), and Nicole Black; five great-grandchildren, Sgt. James Aaron Smith, Avery Smith, Ainsley Smith, Reece Black, and Ann Watson; and one great-great-grandchild, Lily Smith. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Black was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were at 2:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at Lenhardt Christian Fellowship. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
Family members are at their respective homes.
