Capt Daniel arrived in Vietnam 8 May 1969 and was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Calvary, 1st Calvary Division, USARV. James was a passenger abroad UH-1D #66-16775 that was hit by friendly artillery causing the aircraft to crash and burn, 5 kilometers north of Bao Phung and southwest of Tay Ninh City.
Survived by his wife, Renate W Daniel and his daughter and his mother; Olga Daniel all of Apt E-1,
1705 Monroe Drive, Atlanta, Georgia and his father; James E Daniel of Route #2, Cedar Bluff, Alabama.
