JOHN KRAUS

Seriously ill only three days, John Kraus, 89, retired Two Creeks farmer and for years the town's assessor, died at his home at 1004 18th street, Two Rivers, at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Beduhn funeral home and 9 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic church, Two Rivers. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Two Rivers.

He was born in Czechoslovakia in 1862 (sic). When he was four years old the family brought him to this country, making its home in the old Two Creeks settlement, along Lake Michigan. Two years later the family moved to a farm, a mile south, which Mr. Kraus operated until his retirement 20 years ago, coming to Two Rivers. It is now operated by his son, Alois.

Besides his wife,the former Anna Johanek of Carlton, whom he married in 1897 and with whom the golden wedding anniversary was observed three years ago, he leaves
a daughter, Mrs. Luke Feuerstein, Two Rivers, and two sons, Alois, Two Creeks, and Edward Kraus, Manitowoc businessman. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mary Greenwald of North Dakota and Mrs. Catherine Jones of Milwaukee and two brothers, Peter and Joseph, both of Missouri. There are nine grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after Tuesday noon where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
