Clara M. Kreisa, age 99, of 1235 S. 24th St., Manitowoc, died on Monday evening, May 4, 2009 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Clara was born on Jan. 3, 1910, in Montpelier, daughter of the late John and Josephine (Pelnar) Kafka. On Nov. 29, 1939, she married James Kreisa in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1986. Clara was employed with GTE as a telephone operator for 16 years, retiring in 1971.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends: Rosalie Lutterman, Sue Ann Naidl, Kay Marie Rocklewitz, Bernice Baer, and Cathy and John Marinko of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Daniel Schuster. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m.
The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The family extends a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Shady Lane for the special care given to Clara during her stay.
