EDWARD J. KUSIAK (d. 1955)

Funeral services for Edward Joseph (Butchie) Kusiak,(photo) five year old son of Edward and Hattie Wichlacz Kusiak of 1918 Rogers St., Two Rivers, who lost his life by drowning in the East Twin River near his home Thursday noon, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Joseph Gabryszek officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

"Butchie", as was reported to Two Rivers police, presumably lost his balance and fell into the river from the dock between 21st and 22nd Streets on the eastside shortly after leaving his home about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. His mother, according to the report, learned at 11:45 a.m. from "Butchie's" companion, Christ Belonger, 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Belonger, 2022 Jackson St., that the boy had fallen into the river. A quick call to the Police Dept. resulted in the Coast Guard arriving on the scene with a skiff carried on a trailer. In less than five minutes of grappling the body of the Kusiak boy was brought to the surface.

After Coast Guardsmen had applied artificial respiration methods for half hour, Dr. Theodore Teitgen, county coroner, who arrived early on the scene, pronounced the boy dead at 12:25 p.m.

"Butchie" was born in Two Rivers on Feb. 27, 1950.

Besides his paretns he leaves a brother, Gerald, at home, his maternal grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wichlacz of Rt. 1, Two Rivers, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Holdo.

Friends may call at the Klein & Stangel, Inc. Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Friday.
