Marion Marlene Brantley, age 64, of Alma died early Friday morning July 4, 2014 at the Mayo Health System in Waycross after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Eugene C. Carter and Margie Ellerbee Carter Tanner and was also preceded in death by her step-father Otis Tanner, a sister, Nadine Johnson and a step-sister, Kathy Rigby. Marlene was a member of First Community Church of Alma.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Bailey (Shonie) of Alma, Jason W. Nelson (Heidi) of Baxley, three brothers, Eugene Foster of Old Town, FL, George and Teddy Matthew Carter both of Kingman, AZ, two sisters, Tracey E. Whittaker of Flagler Beach, FL., Cynthia Carter of Blackshear, four step sisters, Glenda Calhoun of Aiken, S C, Joyce Anderson and Cindy Tanner both of Douglas and Shirley Clough of Blackshear. Also 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Dr. Dale Carver officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between 6 and 9 P M. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Corinth Free Will Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Bronk, Michael and Christopher Murray, Chris Johnson, Keith Johnson and Michael Medders. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary.

Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
