The Youngest son of Jahu W. DeVore, Sr. and Ada Masters, he had four brothers Raymond, Jahu Jr., Perry and Frances and three sisters Sarah, Ada Mae, and Josephine.
He graduated from Morgan Township High School, and became a Carpenter and Cabinet Maker and built furniture. He married Bettie Byrne on July 12, 1963 they had one daughter, Vicky. Sadly he died at 53 of Cancer.
