Funeral services for Charles Edward Hicks, Sr., 83, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Hines officiating. Military graveside rites will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 P.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hicks was born July 10, 1930 in Castor, LA and passed away July 3, 2014. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for twenty years during both the Korean and Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Hicks; parents and three brothers.

Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Nettie Hicks of Shreveport, LA; one son, Charles Hicks, Jr. and Kathy of Coushatta, LA; three daughters, Barbara Graves and Benny of Oak Grove, LA, Linda Barbo and Jack of Coushatta, LA and Pamela Barker and Sam of Elm Grove, LA; one brother, David Hicks and wife, Edna of Rocky Mount, LA; ten grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Brenda Kennon and Ed of Shreveport, LA and Barbara Lebel of Bossier City, LA; and three step-granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be Dale Jones, Chad Sharpley, Jarred Hicks, Benny Graves, Seth Steed, and Ed Kennon. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW Post #7287.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dale and Chad for all their loving care given during his illness.
