In 1952 he became a founding partner in Mar-Tex Glass Incorporated located in Marshall. He and partner Ray Lawson owned Mar-Tex Glass and Longview Glass until 1986. Harrison then took over the Longview Glass operation as president until he retired in 1999.
Harrison was an active member in many civic organizations including serving as president and a member of the Marshall Lions Club; member of the Longview Rotary Club, Woodsman of the World and First United Methodist Church of Longview.
He married Lanelle Sumrow on November 1, 1952 in Greenville, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 27, 1990. In 1991 Harrison moved to Longview and was married to Marion Tullis on November 14, 1992.
