Joseph and Elizabeth had three children, two are listed below. Their third child Joseph was born December 8, 1871. He was also known as Joseph Benjamin G. Lewellen and here is the reason why. When his father Joseph Lewellen III was a teenager, he and his sister Sarah were found on the 1860 US Census living in the household of Benjamin Starr, his wife Amelia and daughter Anna. Joseph eventually named his son Joseph Benjamin and his daughter Anna Starr. After Benjamin was born his mother Elizabeth died 17 days later, 25 December 1871 during the smallpox epidemic. It is not known if Benjamin died of smallpox but during research it was found that he also died in December 1871, unfortunately the source of that information was not recorded.
