Mark Olin Batchelder, 69, of Lexington, and formerly a long-time resident of Faribault, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault. Visitation will be held one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Mark Olin, the son of Kelsey Chase and Edith (Olin) Batchelder, was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Faribault. He graduated from the Faribault Senior High School in 1947. He married Joan Kitzman on Nov. 26,1955, in Faribault. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was a carpenter and farmer in the area for many years. He is survived by five children, Kim (and Lon) Berven of Faribault, Mike (and Sue) Batchelder of Faribault, Dinah (and Dean) Morgan of Brainerd, Tom (and Holly) Batchelder of Faribault, and Lori (and Mark) Kuhlman of Faribault; 15 grandchildren; and seven siblings, Jane (and Arnold) McReynolds of Manassas, Va., Edith Elliott of Canton, Texas, Charles (and Orvella) Batchelder of Story City, Iowa, Dr. Al (and Jan) Batchelder of Faribault, Kelsey (and Maria) Batchelder of New York, N.Y., Chris (and Kay) Batchelder of Rochester, and John (and Joyce) Batchelder of Mason, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law and two nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Veterans Medical Center at: Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
