Dolores J. Allen, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, July6.

Dolores was the daughter of Guy Nolen Proffitt and Venita Mae (Holden) Mosier and L. Wayne Mosier.
She married Donald W. Allen on December 15, 1957.
She was born in Terre Haute, IN, and attended the Terre Haute schools. Dolores graduated from Wiley High School, Class of 1953.

Dolores worked at American Security as her first job in Lawrence County; was a homemaker while her children were young; in retail sales with J.C. Penney; library assistant with North Lawrence Community Schools; and for many years with Dr. Michael Meyer and Dr. Mark Hall, as an office assistant.

She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. Dolores volunteered at St. Vincent Dunn with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, BNL band parents for many years, PTO groups, and served on the first board for the Girls' Club.

Surviving are four daughters, Virginia (Jimmie) Atkins, Newberry, S.C., Elizabeth (Rick) Butterfield, Bedford, Barbara (Gary) Mills, Arlington, TX and Patricia (Todd) Stephens, Evansville; eight grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Coleman, Michele (Chris) Clark, Jennifer (Chris) Thomas, Nicholas Butterfield, Nicole (Josh) Pirog, Brittany Welling, Grant Stephens, and Brynne Stephens; three great-grandchildren, Karsyn Coleman, Madison Clark and Cameron Clark; one sister, Norma Smith; two nieces, Cindy Severance and Toni Smith.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Allen, a granddaughter, Katie Butterfield and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Englewood Baptist Church, with Pastor David Ferry officiating.

Burial will be in the Pinhook Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
