He was born on Nov. 8, 1927 in Kalamazoo, the son of Joseph C. and Blanche M. (Hoskin) Harrison.
In 1946 and 47, he served in the occupational forces of World War II in Tokyo, Japan. After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree, he went on to get a Masters of Education Degree from the University of Michigan in 1955. In 1962 he came to Ionia, Michigan to become the Principal of Ionia High School. In 1973 he went back into the classroom and taught mathematics until his retirement in 1986.
