ANNA MONKA (d. 1937)

Two Rivers oldest citizen, Mrs. Martin Monka, 94, died at the home of her daughter, Miss Anna Monka, 913 20th street, Two Rivers, Sunday evening. Mrs. Monka was in poor health for a year, although she was able to be up and around until five weeks ago.

Mrs. Monka was born in Germany on June 29, 1842. There she met and was married to Martin Monka Nov. 11, 1863. In 1868 the couple came to this country and settled in Manitowoc. After three years of residence here they bought a farm four miles north of Two Rivers on the Rangeline road. They operated the farm until 1915 when they moved to Two Rivers.

Her husband died in 1928 at the age of 90. Five children, Mrs. Charles Ripple, Miss Anna, both of Two Rivers, Mrs. Anton Bugler, Route 2, Two Rivers, Mrs. Jacob Schorn of Wausaukee, and John of Two Rivers, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren survive.

The body may be viewed at the home until the time of the funeral which will be held from the home at 8:30 Friday morning, and at 9 o'clock the Rev. L.M. Schorn of Wausaukee, a grandson, will conduct services from St. Luke's Catholic church at Two Rivers.
