Donald Ackerman, 92, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Fargo VA Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.
Donald Ackerman was born June 2, 1922 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Myron Jr and Alice (Rick) Ackerman. He received his early education in Clemensville, a rural school in Stutsman County until the 8th grade.
He entered the US Army January 30, 1945 at Ft. Snelling, MN and was honorably discharged Dec. 1, 1946, in Ft. Lewis, WA. He returned to North Dakota and farmed in the Clemensville area all his life.
He married Viola Schaible in Jamestown in 1947. She died in December of 1997. He then married Lucille Warren Lehr on Nov. 3, 1999 in Bullhead City, AZ. They enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona together.
He was a board member of Clemensville Elevator and Rose Township for many years.
Don was a 75 year member of the Jamestown Eagles club, and also a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Don is survived by two sons, Richard (Sharon) Ackerman, Wimbledon, ND, Bruce Ackerman of Jamestown. Four grandchildren, Deb (Darin) Fischer, Shawn (Lisa) Lee, Austin (Chelsea) Ackerman, Anita Ackerman. Six Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and two brothers, (Keith and Gale).
