Edward Hawthorne. MAGALIA - Memorial services for Edward Lee Hawthorne, 86, of Magalia, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Paradise Alliance Church. He died Tuesday, March 12, 1991, in his residence. Hawthorne was born July 26, 1904, in Nashville, Ark.
During his early years, Hawthorne worked as a letter carrier and later as a rancher. During World War II, he was employed for Phillips Petroleum. The majority of his life, however, he was a pastor of several Baptist churches in Texas and California.
He moved to Magalia in 1979 and was a member of the Paradise Alliance Church. Survivors include two sons, Dale and Marlin, Hawthorne, both of Texas; three daughters, Alta Brians of Magalia, Gwen Hufft of Missouri and Darlene Buniger of Colorado; a brother, Jim of Oroville; two sisters, Ruby Chandler of Arkansas and Leta Williamson of Texas; and eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Bob Casey of the Paradise Alliance Church will officiate at the service. Private entombment will be in Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paradise Alliance Church Building Fund.
