"Alleluia!" Bernadette's last spoken word, following a Mass celebrated at her bedside on May 31. She died two days later, at home on Monday, June 2, 2014.
Bernadette was born in Manitowoc, WI, on May 2, 1918, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Woznicki) Wimmer. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Thomas) Netzel, Newton, IA; Fr. David Koch, Green Bay; Barbara (Michael) Hughes, Virginia Beach, VA; Ann (George) Giorgianni, Trinity, FL; Margaret (Kevin) Sullivan, Pleasant Valley, NY; Jane (David) Ralls, Reva, VA; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Patrick Wimmer, Madison, WI; and a sister, Zita Bouril, Morgan, CA.
Bernadette was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, DePaul Koch; a daughter, Mary Walker; and a brother, Richard Wimmer.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at St. Mary's Hospital Chapel, Green Bay. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, WI. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
