Mr. Kenneth Obie Cogbill, 85, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at his residence, after months of declining health.

Obie entered this life on November 22, 1928 in Spurgeon, Missouri, to the union of the late Ralph and Edith (Holt) Cogbill. He was a lifelong resident of Joplin, Missouri. He retired in 1968 from Junge Bakery in Joplin, Missouri. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee and spending time in his garden. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

On October 26, 1964 in Joplin, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Willa Mae Wingo and she preceded him on June 14, 2000. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Foust; a grandson, Marcus Morrison; and eleven siblings.

Obie is survived by a two sons, Tobie Cogbill and wife, Rita, of Carl Junction, Missouri and Terry Cogbill and wife, Brenda, of Joplin, Missouri; a daughter, LuJeana Cogbill of Joplin, Missouri; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel of Joplin, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friend.

Graveside funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Kansas with Chaplain Jeff Martin officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
