Floyd was awarded the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, United Nation Service Metal, National Defense Service Metal and the 50th Anniversary Korean War Service Metal. Floyd was a life time member of the V.F.W. and Disabled Vets.

Floyd's family was one of the founding families in Two Rivers, both in the Commercial Great Lake Fishing and one of the first families to make Two Rivers their home. He was very pleased that his family was able during the depression years to help needy families with fresh fish before they sold the catch of the day. Floyd and Pat were very proud of raising, breeding and showing their beautiful American Quarter Horses for 50 years, winning at some of the country's largest and most prestigious shows including the American Quarter Horse Congress.
