Pauline R. Glassbrook Lansing, MI Passed away Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the age of 93 years. She graduated from Eastern High in 1931 and attended Michigan State University. In 1978 she retired from the State of Michigan after fifty years of service with the Department of Education. She was an avid golfer, world traveler and an active volunteer. She was a founder of Highfields in Onondaga and volunteered with the American Red Cross in Lansing and the Helen Ellis Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Florida. In 1991, she and her husband created the Pauline R. Glassbrook Endowed Fund for the Future Farmers of America (FFA), a scholarship fund at Michigan State University; in 1999, she was recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as their "Philanthropist of the Year"; and in 2005, the American Red Cross awarded her its national "Philos Award for Philanthropy". Other awards and recognitions include the John A. Hannah Society, Michigan FFA, MSU Benefactors, American Red Cross Henry Dunant Society, and many more. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Stanley; two sisters, Mrs. Marshall A. (Eva) Westfall and Mrs. W. Herald (Georgia) Thaman. She will be missed by her many dear friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
