Carl Prien, 89, Jefferson St., Bonduel, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at home after a longtime illness due to cancer.

He was born April 1,1914, in Wismar, Germany to the late Heinrich and Emma (Kaphingst) Prien.

Carl served in the armed forces for six years during WWII. He married Lore Voss Jan. 17,1947, in Westenbruegge Lutheran Church. Carl and Lore were residents of Two Rivers for 42 years where he worked for Hamilton Industries. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bonduel.

Survivors include his wife, Lore; one son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Evelyn Prien of Bonduel; three grandchildren: Kurt and Jodi Prien, Kevin and Dawn Prien, Carl and Lisa Prien; three great-grandchildren: Collin, Julia and Austin; brother-in-law: Guether and Ruth Voss, Sheboygan Falls; sister-in-law: Rose Marie and Ray Kamps, New London; nieces and nephews, many relatives in Germany and special friends in Two Rivers and Mishicot. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hanni and Hans Vitense and Hedy and Heinrich Seehase.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 2, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bonduel, with Rev. Philip Geiger officiating. Friends may call at Wendt Funeral Home, Bonduel, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to the time of service. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers, with a gravesite service at 2:15 p.m.
